How much would you pay for a handcrafted mattress? Would it be worth $60,000 U.S. dollars to you?
For those passionate about savouring the luxury of sleep on the best mattress money can buy, Swedish bed maker Hästens has introduced the Vividus, the plushest bed ever produced by the company. Known for its practice of making beds by hand from purely natural materials for more than 150 years, Hästens’ craftsmen have a unique mastery of the materials’ properties and characteristics. Now all this knowledge has culminated to create the mother of all hand crafted mattresses. Each Vividus bed is unique, requiring 150-160 hours to build, and each one is custom-built by hand for its owner and bears the signature of the Hästens master craftsman who made it. “The idea of building a bed completely by hand, solely by proven methods, in the very finest natural materials has been our philosophy for a long time,” explained Jan Ryde, owner and CEO of Hästens Beds. “With the Vividus, we take every thing a step further — we set out to create the ultimate bed, a bed with absolutely no compromises. We have done so, based on the accumulated knowledge of more than 150 years of bed building.” The Vividus is covered with the company’s distinctive checked cotton design that is available in the traditional blue-and-white Hästens colour scheme or a variety of other hues.
